Univan Maritime Training Academy

The Univan Maritime Training Academy is equipped with a Full Mission STCW95 compliant Ship handling simulator and an Engine simulator. Bridge Team Management amongst other value added courses shall be run with the aid of simulators.

Various Engine Room Machinery will be installed at the Academy to provide Training of Engineers / Engine ratings for fault finding and practical operations hands on training.

The Training Academy occupies approx. 10,000 sq.ft. of space and is equipped with a very modern auditorium, classrooms and shall be equipped with a Library room with books, marine periodicals, computer based multimedia software and video films.

The Training Academy shall research and develop training courses to meet the changing needs of clients within the marine industry.

Most mandatory DG approved courses are also run by our existing "Univan Training Institute" at Kochi, India for the last 7 years.

The mission of the Univan Maritime Training Academy is to equip our Seafarers with that combination of knowledge, critical thinking problem solving, ethical decision making, and confidence which will enable them to safely and efficiently operate, maintain, and manage the ships of today and the maritime industry of tomorrow


Bridge Simulator
 

The Univan Maritime Training Academy is equipped with a Full Mission STCW95 compliant Ship handling simulator.

 

The unique feature of this Ship handling Simulator is that it is well equipped having two Independent Radars and one ECDIS (just the combination you would find on the ship's Bridge) for the participants use unlike the other Training Centres in Mumbai.

 

Also this Simulator is having a Direct throw projection onto Screens each 10 feet wide to give you a very large view. and is used to simulate real-life shipboard navigation conditions.

 

Bridge Team Management, Large Vessel Ship handling, ECDIS IMO Model Course 1.27, amongst other value added courses shall be run with the aid of the Ship handling simulator.

 

The Ship handling Simulator is also fitted with two Infra red Cameras and Mikes for the Instructor to monitor the expressions & conversations of the participants to judge the behavioural aspects of the individual normally and during emergencies.

Ports and exercise areas are modelled with full day/night visual scenery.


Engine Simulator
 

The Univan Maritime Training Academy is equipped with a Full Mission STCW95 compliant Engine simulator.

 

The Machinery Space Simulator simulates the main propulsion and auxiliary plant in the engine room of a 120,000 dwt oil tanker classified for Unmanned Machinery Space (UMS) operation, and is used for training marine engineers in areas such as:

-   starting up and shutting down procedures;
-   fault diagnosis and rectification;
-   optimising engine performance;
-   watchkeeping procedures;
-   function of unmanned machinery space (UMS) systems.
-   Cargo pumps & IG systems

 

The simulator is used to provide diagnostic training and familiarise engine officers with engine response characteristics.


Auditorium Class Room Briefing Room
 

The Auditorium is equipped with a DLP Projector as well as an OHP to suit the desired teaching aids as per the training being imparted.

The Class Room is also equipped with a DLP Projector as well as an OHP.

 
The Briefing Room is approx. 150 sq.ft. in area.
It is used to brief/debrief or have case study discussions with the candidates from the Simulator courses.
