Univan Ship Management Ltd recognises the importance of safety and operational criteria of the Oil Companies International Maritime Forum (OCIMF) and ensures compliance through our onboard, more stringent, ship inspection process.
In 2004, OCIMF introduced the Tanker Management and Self Assessment (TMSA) programme. This is designed to enhance standards of safety and operational management in the tanker industry by requiring tanker operators to assess and rank their safety management systems against a comprehensive list of 12 performance areas established by OCIMF. Univan began implementing TMSA procedures in 2004, and requested several Oil majors to conduct office audits in order to assess companyˇ¦s compliance with the elements of TMSA.
TMSA reviews successfully carried out by
VELA on 22-23, September 2006
SHELL on 23-24, October 2007
EXXONMOBIL on 28-29, February 2008
More than sixty vetting inspections are arranged annually for the fleet tankers in order to ensure that the vessels are commercially suitable at all times.
